In recent years I’ve found that taking an autumnal trip is particularly appealing. Partly because the summertime tourists crowds have subsided. Partly because the weather often affords that “Goldilocks” epiphany- not too hot, not too cold… just right. And partly because I probably won’t have to shovel snow out of the driveway or mow the lawn immediately upon return. Now, mind you, this was not an option during my teaching days. And maybe that adds just a bit more sweetness to this scenario.
In any case, I thought I’d give over this post to an introduction to Florence, Italy…
If, like me, you’ve never been there, you still probably know it as the heart of Tuscany and epicentre of the Italian Renaissance.
These two clips might help you to imagine the sights, sounds, smells and tastes awaiting you.
I hope to have quite a bit more to say about Florence and Tuscany in my next post… that probably coming toward the end of October. Meanwhile enjoy the fall colours and have a happy Thanksgiving.
